GENERAL LAN QUESTIONS
Q: What does “LAN” stand for?
A: LAN is an acronym for Local Area Network. A LAN is a way of connecting multiple computers together to communicate and transfer data at high speeds; or in our case, allow a group of people to share the same experience together in a video game.
Q: What is a LAN Party?
A: A LAN Party is a gathering of gamers who connect together by a LAN and participate in multiplayer versions of popular computer games. A LAN party may consist of a small group of gamers or scale into the masses like us, either case, the meaning “party” is to ensure that everyone has a great time playing games together.
Q: What is BYOC?
A: BYOC stands for Bring Your Own Computer or it can also stand for Bring Your Own Console!
Q: Why should I come to a LAN Party when I have Internet at Home?
A: Experiencing your first LAN party is one of those experiences you just can’t put into words. The fact that you can hang out with a bunch of people and make new friends, meet key people in the gaming industry, compete to be the best gamer in Rochester, and having one of the best times imaginable about sums it up.
GENERAL VENUE QUESTIONS
Q: Is Smoking Allowed inside the Facility?
A: Smoking is not allowed inside the facility.
Q: Can I stay at the event overnight?
A: Absolutely, we will have staff staying at the event all night long. We will lock the entry doors at 11pm-12am and we will unlock them at 7am in the morning. If you have to step out for a few moments, please let our staff know and we will let you back in.
Q: Does the facility have security?
A: Our staff remains onsite all throughout the event to maintain the security of the facility. We have all eyes on the main entryway of the building and we have eyes on all the exits as well.
Q: Do you have enough power at this facility to run all the equipment and computers?
A: Yes, we have calculated how much power is needed at the site, and we work with the venue operators to bring more power into the venue to allow us to have more people at the venue.
GENERAL EVENT RELATED QUESTIONS
Q: What are the hours of the event?
A: The event opens at 6pm on Friday and the Doors will shut Sunday at 4pm.
Q: How do I know where to sit?
A: Approximately one month before the event begins, we will post the seating chart and allow you and your friends to pick your seats next to each other.
Q: Will I need to bring my own table and chair?
A: No, we will provide a 8′ x 3′ table for you to share with 1 other person. A comfy office chair will also be provided, however, if you wish to bring your own Gaming Chair, that is fine as well.
Q: Do I have to pay to get into the LAN?
A: Yes, we accept payment via Paypal. Please visit our events registration page for pricing and details.
Q: How do I register for the LAN party?
A: RocLAN has a Online Registration System that will allow you to register for the LAN party. If we have room available, we will accept registrations at the event, however it is served on a “First Come, First Served Basis”.
Q: Do I have to Prepay when I register for your event?
A: No, you do not have to prepay when you register for our event, however, Paying for your ticket is the only way to guarantee your spot at the event. If you wait until the day of the event, you may not get a seat for the event. We don’t want to have you come all the way to the event, to find out we don’t have a seat available for you since you didn’t pay for your ticket.
Q: Do I need to provide my real address and name while registering?
A: We require your full information for multiple reasons such as Emergency Contact, Prize Notification and Distribution, and to assure that payments are correctly applied. This information is kept confidential with no exceptions. Your personal information will not be shared with 3rd party companies, and will only be used in relation to past, present, and future RocLAN events.
Q: What types of payments do you accept? Is it secure?
A: RocLAN uses PayPal for our Payment Gateway. All transactions and personal information is 100% secure and will not be sold to third party companies.
Q: Will there be General Admission Tickets available?
A: If you would like to just come and hang out with your friends and see the event, feel free to. We just ask for you to fill out a Attendee Waiver Form. You will not be able to take part in any tournaments, contests, or raffles that happen during the event unless you purchase a ticket and register.
Q: What do i need to bring for this event?

Q: What will not be tolerated?
A: We do not tolerate Drugs, Weapons, Nudity, Theft, Pornography, Smoking inside the Venue, Obscenity that Directly Offends other Attendees.
Q: Can I rent a computer at the Event?
A: We do have Computer Rentals available. Please contact one of our staff members for further information or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: How do I check in?
A: Once you enter the building, you will arrive at the main check-in desk. You will be able to get your stuff brought in, before you register at the Front Desk. More information will be available closer to the start of the event.
Q: Can I bring more than one computer?
A: The admission fee for the event covers one person and one computer or console. If you wish to bring and use a second computer or console, you must purchase a secondary ticket for another spot. We will issue you 2 seats next to each other. This is required for power/network.
Q: What are the requirements for attendees & attendees under 18 years of age?
A: All attendees will be required to fill out a Attendee Waiver Form. Anyone under the age of 18 years will need to obtain parental consent, however, if you are under 14 years old, we will require a parent/guardian/family member to be present with you. Anyone under the age of 14 years old, will require a parent/guardian/family member to stay with you overnight, should you chose to do so.
Q: I paid for my ticket, however, I cannot make it to the Event. What can I do?
A: Refunds will be given up until two weeks before the event. After the two week cut off, we are unable to issue a refund due to committments made for the event. You can transfer your paid ticket to a unpaid friend.
Q: Will there be concessions we can purchase at the event?
A: We will be selling water, energy drinks, and possibly some soft drinks at the event. We may do snacks depending on how much want there is to purchase items.
Q: Will you have WiFi at the event for my Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch?
A: We are still trying to figure out the logistics for having WiFi at the event and will update you as soon as we know.
GENERAL GAMING QUESTIONS
Q: Can I hold a tournament other than the headliners for the event?
A: Absolutely, we welcome everyone to start Mini Tournaments and will be happy to announce it to everyone at the event.
Q: Do I have to pay to enter the tournaments?
A: All tournaments are included with the BYOC Ticket. If you have a interest in competing in a tournament and your just visiting, please go to the registration desk, and ask to sign up for a daily ticket.
Q: Will I be able to play in as many tournaments as I want?
A: As long as your tournament does not overlap with another ticket, you are more than welcome to sign up for another tournament.
Q: What type of games should I bring?
A: You can bring/play any games you wish. Some good games to have at the LAN party are Counterstrike:Global Offensive, Quake 3, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty, and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, but these are definitely not the only games that are played at the event.
